Freedom to be happy
What is Freedom for you? Today we want to start this way …
With a question that seems simple, but it is not …
Yesterday we celebrated the liberation and we have heard so much about Freedom. After reading articles, poems, quotes we wanted to do this post to reflect together. Talking about Freedom is a difficult topic among adults, let’s explain it to our children! In fact, I believe that the children are the best who should explain freedom to us. They are better. They live and let them live. And do you know why? They have no prejudices. And this makes them free and careless.
Once in a nursery workshop, we were in the circle and “philosophized” together when, on this topic, a little girl told us that for her freedom was not to be able to eat all the chocolate she wanted but to succeed Eat it for the sake of her belly!
But what does all this mean then? What does it mean to be free?
Freedom can not only do everything we enjoy or like. Freedom is what makes us make conscious choices, respecting ourselves and others. If I am free to choose, to think, to communicate, I will be open to listen to the freedom of others. Freedoms are roads that cross to reach the goal. And if we were all really free, there would be no discrimination.
For me the freedom is like a dandelion that flying high in the sky together with our greatest dreams. I believe freedom is free but at the same time it has deep roots. It seems a controversy, but the real freedom is to be free to sail in an unexplored sea knowing that there is always a safe harbor inside us. And that safe harbor is our values, which makes us feel at home.
Freedom is to be able to think, choose, talk, live according to their own values without being overwhelmed by the heaviest of prejudices.

Freedom and children
To help children develop free and light we should think together with them. There are many books that help parents, educators and children discuss this theme together.
